Featuring an unrivalled view across to Pendle Hill and in the heart of the Trough of Bowland AONB, Downham’s camping barn is now being run by the Downham Estate rather than the YHA and is Visit England Accredited. It offers an excellent budget overnight or weekend accommodation option for many types of events and celebrations, as well as being very popular with walkers, cyclists, campers and D of E groups.

The recently refurbished barn building accommodates 10-12 in an upstairs ‘dormitory’ room for guests who bring their own camp beds or roll mats. Below is a kitchen and sitting area with an adjoining gas heated shower and WC. Photovoltaic cells provide power for limited LED lighting (but not for phone charging – there is no mains electricity) and there is a wood-burning stove with fuel available to purchase at time of booking, as well as a gas cooker.

Outside, there is space for additional tents – as well as a fire pit. There is parking for approximately four cars in a layby on the immediately adjacent lane. The barn is situated just ¾ mile from Downham Village, so benefits from being both accessible to the facilities – popular pub and ice cream shop - yet private for your group.

The barn is available to hire only on a sole use basis for £200 per night (which includes use of gas and lighting), plus £10 per night for each additional tent.
