Featuring an unrivalled view across to Pendle Hill and in the heart of the Trough of Bowland AONB, Downham’s camping barn is now being run by the Downham Estate rather than the YHA. It offers an excellent budget overnight or weekend accommodation option for many types of events and celebrations, as well as being very popular with walkers, cyclists, campers and D of E groups.

The recently refurbished barn building accommodates 10-12 in an upstairs ‘dormitory’ room for guests who bring their own camp beds or roll mats. Below is a kitchen and sitting area with an adjoining gas heated shower and WC. Photovoltaic cells provide power for limited LED lighting (but not for phone charging – there is no mains electricity) and there is a wood-burning stove with fuel available to purchase at time of booking. A gas cooker operated by a £1 coin meter is also provided.

Outside, there is space for five additional tents – as well as a gas barbeque and fire pit. There is parking for approximately four cars in a layby on the immediately adjacent lane. The barn is situated just ¾ mile from Downham Village so benefits from being both accessible to the facilities – popular pub, tearoom and ice cream shop - yet private for your group.

The barn is available to hire on a sole use basis for £150 per night, plus £10 per night for each additional tent.  There is an additional cleaning fee (see below). Please email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with initial enquiries.

COVID 19 NOTICE

While we are accepting reservations from 1st August onwards, usage will depend on prevailing government guidelines at the time of the proposed booking.  The normal additional cleaning fee of £30 has been temporarily increased to £55 to cover the cost of ‘deep cleans’ between hire periods.

Hirers should be aware that we have, for the moment, removed the selection of basic pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and glassware etc and they will need to bring their own.
